Senior Product Manager
About the role
About The Meridiem
The Meridiem is a fast-growing technology media platform on a mission to deliver timely, high-quality technology journalism. We cover the stories that matter across AI, startups, venture capital, cybersecurity, and enterprise tech — delivering morning briefings and evening analysis to a growing audience of technology professionals and decision-makers.
Role Overview
As a Senior Product Manager, you will own the product strategy for The Meridiem's reader experience and editorial tools. You will define how readers discover, consume, and engage with technology journalism — from the homepage and category pages to personalized content delivery, newsletters, and community features. You will partner closely with engineering, editorial, and design to ship features that drive reader growth, retention, and engagement. This role requires both strategic vision and hands-on execution in a fast-paced startup environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the product roadmap for reader-facing features including content discovery, article experience, personalization, and engagement systems
- Drive reader growth and retention through data-informed feature development — analyzing user behavior, content performance, and funnel metrics to prioritize initiatives
- Partner with the editorial team to build tools and workflows that streamline content creation, scheduling, and distribution across six content verticals
- Lead the strategy for newsletter products, including signup flows, content curation, and subscriber engagement optimization
- Define product requirements and success metrics for features such as comments, bookmarks, reading lists, and reader profiles
- Conduct user research — interviews, surveys, usability testing — to deeply understand reader needs and pain points
- Manage the product development lifecycle from discovery through launch, including writing PRDs, defining acceptance criteria, and coordinating cross-functional teams
- Analyze platform analytics to identify trends, measure feature impact, and inform strategic decisions
- Collaborate with engineering to balance technical debt, platform scalability, and feature velocity
- Present product strategy, roadmap updates, and performance reviews to leadership and stakeholders
- Stay current on media industry trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies in digital journalism
Requirements
- 5+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role
- Proven track record of shipping user-facing products that drove measurable growth or engagement
- Strong analytical skills with experience using analytics tools (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar)
- Experience managing products with content-heavy or media-oriented user experiences
- Ability to write clear, detailed product requirements and user stories
- Experience with A/B testing frameworks and data-driven decision making
- Strong user research skills — comfort conducting interviews, synthesizing feedback, and translating insights into product decisions
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in a remote environment
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools (Jira, Linear, or similar)
- A genuine interest in technology journalism and the media landscape
Nice-to-Have
- Experience at a digital media company, news platform, or content-focused startup
- Familiarity with CMS platforms (Strapi, WordPress, or similar) and editorial workflows
- Understanding of SEO, content distribution, and audience development strategies
- Experience with newsletter platforms (Beehiiv, Substack, Mailchimp) and email engagement metrics
- Knowledge of subscription and monetization models for digital media
- Technical background or comfort discussing architecture decisions with engineering teams
- Experience with personalization and recommendation systems
What We Offer
- Competitive salary ($145,000 - $180,000) with meaningful equity in a Series A startup
- Fully remote work environment with flexible hours
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Generous PTO and company-wide recharge days
- Annual learning and development stipend ($2,000)
- Home office setup allowance
- The opportunity to define the product vision for a platform reshaping technology journalism
