About the role
About The Meridiem
The Meridiem is a fast-growing technology media platform on a mission to deliver timely, high-quality technology journalism. We cover the stories that matter across AI, startups, venture capital, cybersecurity, and enterprise tech — delivering morning briefings and evening analysis to a growing audience of technology professionals and decision-makers.
Role Overview
As an Associate Product Manager, you will support the product team in discovering, defining, and delivering features that improve the reader experience and grow The Meridiem's audience. You will conduct user research, analyze competitive landscapes, support feature development from ideation through launch, and contribute to roadmap planning. This is a high-growth role designed for someone who wants to develop into a strong product manager while working on a product that reaches thousands of technology professionals daily.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct user research — reader interviews, surveys, usability tests, and feedback analysis — to identify pain points and opportunities in the reader experience
- Perform competitive analysis across digital media platforms, newsletters, and tech journalism products, surfacing insights that inform product strategy
- Support feature discovery and definition by writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and lightweight product specifications
- Assist with A/B test planning and analysis, helping measure the impact of new features on reader engagement and conversion
- Contribute to product roadmap planning by gathering inputs from editorial, engineering, and reader feedback channels
- Track and report on key product metrics including reader growth, engagement rates, newsletter conversion, and content performance
- Coordinate with engineering and design teams during feature development, ensuring clear communication of requirements and timelines
- Manage the feature request backlog, triaging and prioritizing inputs from internal stakeholders and reader feedback
- Support the launch process for new features — preparing documentation, coordinating announcements, and monitoring post-launch metrics
- Research emerging trends in digital media, content delivery, and reader engagement to identify opportunities for The Meridiem
- Document product processes, decision rationale, and learnings to build institutional knowledge
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in product management, product analytics, UX research, or a related role (internships count)
- Strong analytical thinking and comfort working with data to support product decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience conducting user research or usability testing (formal or informal)
- Familiarity with product management tools (Jira, Linear, Notion, or similar)
- Basic understanding of how web applications work (APIs, databases, frontend/backend concepts)
- Curiosity about the technology industry and a habit of consuming tech news and analysis
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- A collaborative mindset and comfort working with cross-functional teams
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently in a remote-first environment
Nice-to-Have
- Experience at a media company, content platform, or consumer-facing product
- Familiarity with analytics tools (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar)
- Understanding of SEO, content distribution, or audience development strategies
- Experience with newsletter products or email marketing platforms
- Technical background (computer science coursework, coding bootcamp, or self-taught programming)
- Familiarity with design tools (Figma, Sketch) for wireframing and prototyping
- A personal blog, newsletter, or content project that demonstrates product thinking
- MBA or product management certification (APM programs, Product School, etc.)
What We Offer
- Competitive salary ($85,000 - $110,000) with meaningful equity in a Series A startup
- Fully remote work environment with flexible hours
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Generous PTO and company-wide recharge days
- Annual learning and development stipend ($2,000)
- Home office setup allowance
- Structured mentorship from senior product leaders who are invested in your growth
- A fast-paced environment where you will learn more in one year than most APMs learn in three
