About The Meridiem
The Meridiem is a fast-growing tech journalism platform delivering essential coverage of AI, startups, venture capital, cybersecurity, and enterprise technology. We provide morning briefings and evening analysis to a rapidly expanding subscriber base of tech professionals, founders, and investors. Backed by Series A funding, we are scaling our team to match our ambition of becoming the go-to source for technology news and insight.
Role Overview
We are hiring a Talent Acquisition Specialist to lead recruiting efforts as The Meridiem scales its team across editorial, product, engineering, and business functions. You will own the full recruitment lifecycle — from sourcing and employer branding to interview coordination and offer management. This role is critical to our growth: the people you bring in will define the company we become.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full-cycle recruitment process for roles across editorial, engineering, product, operations, and business teams.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies to build diverse, high-quality candidate pipelines for current and future hiring needs.
- Build and maintain The Meridiem's employer brand through job postings, social media presence, careers page content, and candidate communications.
- Design and refine structured interview processes including scorecards, competency frameworks, and evaluation criteria for each role.
- Manage the applicant tracking system (ATS) and ensure accurate, up-to-date candidate records and pipeline reporting.
- Partner with hiring managers to define role requirements, ideal candidate profiles, and hiring timelines.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in all recruiting practices, from sourcing channels to interview panels.
- Coordinate and schedule interviews across time zones for a globally distributed team.
- Manage offer processes including compensation benchmarking, offer letter preparation, and candidate negotiations.
- Track recruiting metrics (time to fill, source effectiveness, offer acceptance rate, diversity metrics) and report to leadership.
- Build relationships with journalism schools, tech communities, and professional networks to create ongoing talent pipelines.
- Develop internship and early-career programs to cultivate emerging talent in tech journalism.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in talent acquisition or recruiting, preferably in startups, media, or technology companies.
- Proven ability to source and hire for diverse role types — editorial, technical, and business functions.
- Experience with applicant tracking systems (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, or similar).
- Strong understanding of structured interviewing and competency-based assessment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills — you represent The Meridiem to every candidate.
- Experience building and maintaining employer brand presence on LinkedIn, job boards, and social media.
- Data-driven approach to recruiting with experience tracking and optimizing pipeline metrics.
- Comfort operating autonomously in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience recruiting for media, journalism, or content organizations.
- Background in recruiting software engineers, product managers, or technical roles.
- Familiarity with international hiring, EOR platforms, and global employment considerations.
- Experience designing and running DEI-focused recruiting initiatives.
- Knowledge of compensation benchmarking tools and market data sources.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary with equity options in a Series A startup.
- Fully remote work with flexible hours.
- Health, dental, and vision benefits.
- Generous PTO and company-wide recharge days.
- Annual learning and development budget.
- Direct impact on building the team that will define The Meridiem's future.
- Growth into a recruiting leadership role as the company scales.
