Role Overview
We are hiring a Social Media Manager to build The Meridiem's presence and community across key platforms. You will own our social strategy on Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Threads, and emerging platforms, turning breaking tech news into engaging social content in real time. This role demands someone who lives at the intersection of tech news and social media, and who can grow an audience of founders, investors, engineers, and executives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a platform-specific social media strategy for Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Threads, and other relevant channels.
- Create and publish daily social content that translates our journalism into engaging, shareable formats (threads, carousels, short-form video, polls).
- Monitor and engage with real-time tech news, industry conversations, and trending topics to position The Meridiem as a go-to source.
- Build and nurture an active online community around The Meridiem's coverage areas, fostering meaningful discussions with readers and industry figures.
- Manage rapid-response social coverage for breaking news, product launches, funding announcements, and major tech events.
- Develop a consistent brand voice and visual identity across all social platforms.
- Collaborate with the editorial team to coordinate social distribution of articles, morning briefings, and evening analysis editions.
- Plan and execute social campaigns to drive newsletter subscriptions, article traffic, and brand awareness.
- Track and report on social media KPIs including follower growth, engagement rates, click-through rates, and share of voice.
- Identify and engage with influencers, thought leaders, and potential collaborators in the tech ecosystem.
- Experiment with new content formats, platform features, and emerging social channels to stay ahead of the curve.
- Manage social media tooling, scheduling, and analytics platforms.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience managing social media for a media brand, tech company, or B2B publication.
- Deep familiarity with Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and Threads, including platform-specific best practices and algorithms.
- Proven ability to grow and engage an audience in the technology or business news space.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to distill complex tech topics into concise, compelling social copy.
- Experience with real-time social media management during breaking news or live events.
- Strong visual storytelling instincts and basic design skills (Canva, Figma, or similar).
- Proficiency with social media management tools (Buffer, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, or similar).
- Genuine passion for technology news and a strong understanding of the AI, startup, and VC landscape.
Nice-to-Have
- Personal social media presence in the tech or media space with a demonstrated following.
- Experience with short-form video production (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts).
- Background in journalism, communications, or tech industry PR.
- Experience managing paid social campaigns and boosted content.
- Familiarity with social listening tools and sentiment analysis.
