Role Overview

As a Senior Reporter at The Meridiem, you will cover a primary beat — AI, startups, venture capital, cybersecurity, or enterprise tech — with depth, authority, and consistency. You will break original stories through source cultivation and investigative work, produce daily news and analysis, and contribute to both our morning briefings and evening analysis. This is a role for an experienced journalist who can set the agenda on their beat while mentoring junior members of the editorial team.

Key Responsibilities

• Cover a primary beat (AI, startups, VC, cybersecurity, or enterprise tech) with depth and authority
• Break original stories through source cultivation and investigative reporting
• Write daily news stories, analysis pieces, and occasional long-form features
• Contribute to morning briefings and evening analysis editions
• Develop and maintain a network of sources across the technology industry
• Mentor junior reporters and provide guidance on story development, sourcing, and craft
• Pitch enterprise stories and investigative projects to editors
• Collaborate with editors on editorial planning and beat strategy
• Ensure all reporting meets The Meridiem's standards for accuracy, fairness, and clarity
• Represent The Meridiem at industry events and conferences as needed

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional journalism or reporting experience
• Demonstrated expertise covering at least one technology vertical (AI, startups, VC, cybersecurity, or enterprise tech)
• Strong track record of breaking original stories and cultivating sources
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clear, compelling copy under deadline pressure
• Experience contributing to daily news cycles and fast-paced editorial environments
• Ability to translate complex technical and business topics for a broad professional audience
• Strong editorial judgment and news sense
• Comfort working in a remote-first, async environment

Nice-to-Have

• Experience at a major technology publication or business news outlet
• An established network of sources within the tech industry
• Experience with data-driven or investigative reporting
• Familiarity with SEO best practices for digital journalism
• Background in newsletter or subscriber-driven media
• Published long-form features or investigative projects
