Role Overview
We are looking for a Sales Development Representative to be the tip of the spear for The Meridiem's revenue team. You will identify and qualify advertising and partnership prospects, run outbound campaigns, and fill the pipeline for our Account Executive team. This is an ideal role for a motivated, curious self-starter who wants to break into media sales and grow quickly within a high-trajectory startup.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct outbound prospecting to identify potential advertisers, sponsors, and partners across the technology sector.
- Research target accounts and build prospect lists of marketing decision-makers at tech companies, SaaS vendors, VC firms, and agencies.
- Execute multi-channel outreach campaigns via email, LinkedIn, phone, and social media to generate qualified meetings.
- Qualify inbound leads from the website, newsletter, and events, routing them to the appropriate Account Executive.
- Maintain accurate records of all prospecting activity, conversations, and pipeline status in the CRM.
- Achieve monthly and quarterly targets for qualified meetings booked and pipeline generated.
- Develop a deep understanding of The Meridiem's audience, content verticals, and advertising products to effectively communicate value to prospects.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to align outbound messaging with inbound campaigns and brand positioning.
- Gather market intelligence from prospect conversations including competitive insights, budget cycles, and advertiser priorities.
- Participate in sales team meetings, pipeline reviews, and skill development sessions.
- Assist in refining the SDR playbook including email templates, call scripts, objection handling, and qualification criteria.
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience in sales development, business development, or a related outbound prospecting role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft personalized, compelling outreach.
- Comfort with high-volume outbound activity including cold email, cold calling, and LinkedIn outreach.
- Experience with CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar) and sales engagement platforms (Outreach, Apollo, or similar).
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail in pipeline tracking and follow-up.
- Resilient, coachable, and motivated by targets and performance metrics.
- Interest in the technology industry and media business models.
- Ability to work independently in a remote startup environment.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience in media sales, advertising sales, or SaaS sales development.
- Familiarity with the tech media landscape and digital advertising ecosystem.
- Understanding of newsletter monetization, CPM pricing, and sponsorship models.
- Experience using tools like LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, or Clearbit for prospecting.
- Previous startup experience or comfort with ambiguity and building processes from scratch.
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary ($55,000 - $75,000) plus commission with realistic OTE of $80,000 - $110,000.
