About the role
About The Meridiem
The Meridiem is a fast-growing tech journalism platform delivering essential coverage of AI, startups, venture capital, cybersecurity, and enterprise technology. We provide morning briefings and evening analysis to a rapidly expanding subscriber base of tech professionals, founders, and investors. Backed by Series A funding, we are scaling our team to match our ambition of becoming the go-to source for technology news and insight.
Role Overview
We are looking for an Operations Manager to be the connective tissue across The Meridiem's editorial, product, growth, and business functions. You will own the systems, processes, and workflows that keep the company running efficiently as we scale. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives on bringing order to ambiguity and building operational infrastructure that enables a growing team to move fast without breaking things.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional coordination between editorial, product, engineering, growth, and business teams to ensure alignment on priorities and timelines.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve operational processes that scale with the company's growth trajectory.
- Manage vendor relationships including technology providers, freelance networks, legal services, and office/remote infrastructure.
- Own the company's operational tooling stack — evaluate, implement, and optimize tools for project management, communication, and workflow automation.
- Develop and maintain operational dashboards and reporting to give leadership visibility into company health.
- Drive quarterly and annual planning processes, translating strategic goals into actionable operational plans.
- Manage budgets for operational expenditures and identify cost optimization opportunities.
- Establish and enforce operational policies around remote work, equipment provisioning, security protocols, and business continuity.
- Coordinate with finance and HR on headcount planning, contractor management, and organizational design as the team grows.
- Identify bottlenecks and single points of failure across the organization and implement mitigation strategies.
- Support fundraising and board reporting with operational metrics and company performance data.
- Lead incident response coordination for operational disruptions (platform outages, vendor failures, etc.).
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in operations, business operations, or a chief of staff role, with at least 2 years in a startup or high-growth environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build operational processes and systems from scratch.
- Strong project management skills with experience using tools like Asana, Notion, Linear, or Monday.com.
- Excellent cross-functional communication — comfortable working with engineers, journalists, and executives alike.
- Analytical mindset with experience creating dashboards, tracking KPIs, and using data to drive decisions.
- Experience managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to prioritize ruthlessly in a resource-constrained environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience in media, publishing, or content-driven businesses.
- Familiarity with subscription business models and their operational requirements.
- Background in management consulting or strategy roles.
- Experience supporting fundraising processes (pitch decks, data rooms, investor updates).
- Knowledge of the tech startup ecosystem.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary with meaningful equity in a Series A startup.
- Fully remote work with flexible hours.
- Health, dental, and vision benefits.
- Generous PTO and company-wide recharge days.
- Annual learning and development budget.
- A seat at the leadership table — direct influence on how the company operates and scales.
- The opportunity to build the operational backbone of a category-defining media company.
