Role Overview
We are hiring a Financial Analyst to provide the quantitative foundation for The Meridiem's growth decisions. You will build revenue models, analyze subscription economics, forecast financial performance, and deliver insights that directly shape our business strategy. This role is perfect for a numbers-driven professional who wants to apply financial analysis to the fast-moving intersection of media and technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain revenue models covering subscription tiers, advertising income, sponsored content, and premium products.
- Analyze unit economics including customer acquisition cost (CAC), lifetime value (LTV), payback periods, and contribution margins by channel.
- Track and report on subscription metrics such as MRR, ARR, churn rate, expansion revenue, and cohort retention curves.
- Develop financial forecasts at monthly, quarterly, and annual horizons, incorporating growth assumptions and market conditions.
- Measure advertiser ROI and build pricing models for sponsorship, display advertising, and branded content partnerships.
- Conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis to evaluate new initiatives, pricing changes, and market expansion opportunities.
- Prepare financial sections of board decks, investor updates, and fundraising materials.
- Analyze content performance from a financial perspective — correlating editorial investment with subscriber growth and engagement revenue.
- Support budget tracking by monitoring actual vs. planned spending and flagging variances with root cause analysis.
- Research industry benchmarks and competitive intelligence to contextualize The Meridiem's financial performance.
- Collaborate with the growth team to model and evaluate paid acquisition experiments and referral program economics.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, investment banking, consulting, or corporate finance.
- Expert-level financial modeling skills in Excel/Google Sheets.
- Strong understanding of subscription and recurring revenue business models.
- Experience building DCF models, revenue forecasts, and scenario analyses.
- Analytical rigor with the ability to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities in large datasets.
- Excellent data visualization and presentation skills — able to turn analysis into compelling narratives.
- Familiarity with financial reporting and basic accounting principles.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy in all outputs.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience in media, publishing, or digital subscription businesses.
- Proficiency with SQL for querying subscriber and revenue databases.
- Familiarity with BI and analytics tools (Looker, Tableau, Metabase).
- Experience with Python or R for financial modeling and data analysis.
- CFA candidacy or progress toward CFA/CPA designation.
- Knowledge of the tech startup fundraising landscape.
What We Offer

- Fully remote work with flexible hours.
- Health, dental, and vision benefits.
- Generous PTO and company-wide recharge days.
- Annual learning and development budget.
- Exposure to high-level strategic and fundraising decisions.
